I’ve never been to France but, through Jackie William’s books, I feel as though I have vacationed there many times. While visiting (in my mind) the beautiful beaches and scenic countryside, I have had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful romance characters. In the Scarred Series, I fell in love with wounded soldiers and, now, I’ve fallen in love with the wonderful cast of Echo Beach. Joanna and Dominic have officially become one of my favorite literary couples of all time. Nothing is sexier than a “never-ending battle of wills.” Did I mention that there was lots of delectable French food in the story? Several scenes sent me foraging for snacks.

All of Ms. William’s books are easy reads, but they are not full of fluff. Each novel contains a rich depth of emotion and life-changing content. I never tire of the homage that gets paid to those brave souls who made such great sacrifices for their fellow countrymen. I love the perfect balance of romance, mystery and suspense that I have come to expect and count on. I look forward to reading more from this brilliant author.

Like many others I really loved the first two in the Scarred series, and will be getting the third as soon as it is out. They had the right balance of 'kick ass-ability' that some of us guys like to see, whilst at the same time reading a more sensitive style of writing. Echo Beach did follow a more romantic theme, but to me it was no less entertaining and had the right balance of romance and intrigue (with a good number of 'naughty thoughts') as the story unfolded (believe me when I say it develops on several levels, and across several generations). Once again I could picture every scene, and every character more than came to life as they were introduced and grew with the story. This author is totally up front about what you get in her books, which are put together in a way where you can escape to the beautiful landscapes, meet strong characters, picture yourself at a tiny restaurant table with fantastic food and wine, whilst at the same time being involved in her story. The hidden gem title for this review is particularly apt for one scene involving Joanna late on in the book, but you'll have to read it.
Chloe and Joanna are holidaying in beautiful Brittany, soaking up the Gallic atmosphere enjoying fine wines and gastronomic delights with the wonderful, handsome Phillipe. Then suddenly the surprises start - Dominic with his flashing eyes and super macho territorial behaviour sweeps you off your feet. Strange whisperings in the walls and long forgotten hidden tunnels leading you into an amazing ghostly story celebrating the heroism of the soldiers who selflessly left their home countries and who bravely fought in WW2 and the outstanding skills of the Resistance in repatriating them to the safety of England and True Love. The story that unfolds left me speechless, I could almost taste the fruity wines and the humour running throughout had me giggling with glee and of course there's a brilliant cliff hanger.
If you've read Ms Williams Tinted Lenses you will love this, so different from Running Scarred (Scarred Series) and Forever Scarred (Scarred Series) and just as beautifully researched and written...
Terrible!
I am a huge fan of Ms. Williams' work. Echo beach was not like the scarred series that I adore so much. It had a distinct voice of its own and a different level of depth. This book spoke to me more than anything that I have read in a long while. I think the character Joanna stood out to me the most. Her struggles to hide her poverty and pretend that nothing could hurt her as a young woman, and how she changed and matured only to come face to face once again with the one person that she had longed for Dominic. I came to love Dominic, though at times in the beginning I wanted to slap him.
Each book of Ms. Williams' work gets better and better. The characters draw you in and make you feel as if you are apart of the story.
I look forward to reading more.
